January 23, 2011

Below is a letter from Ashfaque Hussain, our Chapter Leader in Pakistan, providing us with an update on how he is using the funds that were raised by COE. The total funds raised to date total 53,013 rupees.

Dear COE Family,

I would like to give you update regarding the money that COE sent me regarding helping the poor and displaced people by the flood here in Pakistan.

The amount that I received from your side was of 22,849 plus luckily my salary was arrived on 5th, so I included 2,000 in it as I also shared in my last email message, so total amount that is spent for helping number of families is of 24,849 rupees, on 6 and 7 October, following activities executed.

  • Four families that included 63 people of all ages from children, men and women, were supported in the fares of boats for their evacuation from district Dadu and Sukkur.(two families from each other district). 7000 rupees were spent on the fares of boats with petrol too for the evacuation of the above families to safer place, than they moved to Karachi to join the government and other donor displayed relief camps, they were supported in the references for joining the certain relief camps.
  • 27 dry baby milk powder bottles named as S-26 distributed among the small babies between the ages of 5 months to 3 years costing 13500 rupees, due to their mothers were not capable of proper breast feeding due to lack of timely and proper availability of food. Per child two dried milk powder bottles given. so 14 babies on each individual families supported.
  • 9 families were belonging to Sukkur and 5 families belonging to the Dadu District. I personally distributed milk to five families here in district Dadu and remaining milk sent to member of COE chapter Shabir Tunio who distributed milk among families in Sukkur.
  • 120 bottles of mineral water distributed of Nestle Company among 11 families mostly belonging to Sukkur based shelter camps where people migrated from very far away districts like Jacobabad, Kashmore and Shikarpur districts.

The people don’t have any thing to give us in return except prayers and I am sure all  who have contributed money from their personal savings will receive unknown support from heaven and will never see any hardship in their life. Prayers make your ways and routes smooth.

Thanks for this supportive connection for the people of Pakistan.

Much love and affection,
Ashfaque
