Inspiration for these pendants comes from the Children of the Earth Logo which was conceived collaboratively by young people. The idea originated from the Native American concept of a Medicine Wheel. Mother Earth is in the center; she is surrounded by powerful spirits encountered in the natural environment. Father Sky comprises the background. Four pairs of hands show the mutual caring of the four ethnicities of humanity. The pendants, as well as the metal from which they are made, have been taken around the world and been blessed by many religious leaders including holy elders of Hawaiian, Taoist, and Pagan traditions.

Universal Peace Celebration
 Nina attended the Universal Peace Celebration in Switzerland sponsored by the Woscheks at Schweibenalp. As for my personal journey, the high point was meeting and having ritual Maoori work on me offered by Aunti Wai... Shaman. She explained that the 13 grandmothers work with me as well as I am also now a grandmother having a large eagle flying above me, moving with me around the world to share empowering love for peace. Together with Marco and Auntie Wai, we plan more work for the upcoming generations. Hopefully Auntie Wai will work with the Young Visionaries for 2012 in Guatemala. Her breath of fire is strong...and she carries great medicine. It is good to have a woman carrying the Spiritual Elder torch. In addition, a group of Mayans attended and did ceremony invoking the ancestors and sharing the Mayan prophesies. The Woscheks also invited 2 strong visionary and passionate youth...one from Kenya who dreams the impossible into possible such as growing food in dirty old plastic bags with his friends to support his community to a youth from Brazil who serves the flavellas through his inspirational music and also feeds them. We met a young New Zealander, Dolina, who will open a Chapter in New Zealand...kudos. Youth serving our world. Let us support them...and inspire others to care for their Brothers and Sisters worldwide.

A Personal Journey to Togo, West Africa
On arrival at the church I was warmly welcomed by members of the congregation. I had never experienced such lively gospel singing and dancing during a church service. It was very inspiring! There were many kids. Some were very friendly and curious, others a little scared at the sight of my pale skin which they had never seen before. After enjoying a community lunch together which they call "Agape" a Greek word that means "Unconditional Love" we went back home where we met Harriet my COE companion for the trip who had arrived from Ghana. - Karoline Buys

Scotland
 Lucy Thomas (co-founder of COE Scotland) has just secured a £10,000 funding for an anti-bullying project called "Belong-Longing to Be ME". This will allow COE Scotland; to partner with the local High School and to involve pupils in this anti-bullying project which has its heart and intentions fully rooted in Children of the Earth, and is really the first big step out to the local community since becoming established earlier this year. This funded project is the first step in the work of COE Scotland, and engaging with the local School is a perfect platform to launch COE activities locally. Transforming Conflict: Sharing Tools for Cross-Cultural Dialogue, July 2011, Jordan
Children of the Earth Board members, Diane DeTerra and Patrick McCollum and I (Nina Meyerhof ) travelled to Jordan to lead a workshop with Common Bond Institute on
Transforming Conflict: Sharing tools for Cross-Cultural Dialogue. Our workshops addressed Youth as Social Activists Transforming Spirituality into Leadership.
Children of the Earth's focus is TRANSCENDING CONFLICT using our model to look holistically and from above, seeing there are parts that equal the whole and thus the answer for a solution lies in that pattern rather than separating out right vs. wrong or working towards compromise.
Jordan's population consists of 30 % Jordanians and 70 % Palestinian immigrants. At this CBI meeting in addition to some Westerners it was attended by Jordanians, Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, and some Jewish Israelis. The combination caused much upheaval, as the groups did not know the Jewish people would be participating. This led to much discussion and upset. Naturally our approach was and is different. Our focus is to find the point of unity where we are one humanity.

European Consciousness Through Peace Actions, 5-12 August 2011, Romania
 Baia Mare, Romania was the site of an inspiring gathering for youth and spirituality working to build actions for peace in Europe. 25 youth aged between 10 and 35 years and 7 elders attended. They were coming from Romania, Hungary, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States of America from 6 to 12 August at the Petrusca Villa in Apa Nord to establish a community beyond barriers of nationality, ethnicity, culture, age, sex, religion or otherwise and open a dialogue about how we can put our spirituality to work for peace in our communities and spheres of action.

Vedic Ceremony in France - August 3-7th
 Shri Tathata (asking what his name means I hear something like I am not and I am that) having lived in a cave 20 years or more is known as a Sage explaining that he had merged into unity with the Divine Super-conscious. In that state he was told that the future could hold the potential for a New Civilization where all people could use their consciousness to be happy and live in harmony. This became his mission as he returned to an earthly plane to function with humanity...to be in it but not of it. He is considered an aspect of the Divine. His earthly goal is to help others and put spirituality into action. He spoke of the WILL versus the little will and how Reflection inwards gives true purpose for action...and that all must be based on principles. Does this sound familiar? We are walking into our COE home!

 We (Dr. Nina Meyerhof, Marco Steiger and Rodica Pop) met the 90 year old Justinian Chira, Archbishop of Maramures and Satu Mare, in Romania while participating in the Youth Gathering "European Consciousness Through Peace Actions". The Archbishop has fire in his eyes, a full knowledge of the Bible and a truly open heart that does not stand with rules, but asks with passion to bring new life into the meaning of LOVE ONE ANOTHER and honor the YOUNG. He sees COE's work as the spark of fire needed to embrace this world for helping build our global family and a new civilization rather than the end to our world. He will Bless us and pray continually for us as we walk forward. What a marvelous Blessing as this man has stature and healing as he beams and radiates out the message of LOVE.

Ghana Youth Gathering, Accra, August 21
 On the 20th of August 2011, Karoline Buys (COE's International Program Director) and Harriet Nettles crossed the dusty border from Lomé, Togo to Ghana and continued to the University of Legon in Accra, the site of two previous COE / Apeadu Peace Center gatherings. Sammy Fianko and Lawrence Yealue organized a group of young people to join us in the lovely University gardens for a program on spirituality into action (Reflect, connect and act) and lunch. After Karoline led a meditation, the sharing that followed showed clear results: a sense of inner peace and oneness with all humanity that reached beyond religion, and the realization that we are all divine. Afterwards Karoline showed the youth the movie on the power of thought inspiring them to become more active in their daily lives. In reflecting upon the day together, Karoline said, " If hearts have been touched and youth have been inspired to seek higher answers about life and who we are, they will be guided from within to be the change and create a better world."

Wisdom Thinkers Roundtable - Sept. 8
 Searching for Answers and Wisdom in a Post 9/11 World. On Sept 8th and 9th, a diverse group of some of the nations leading thinkers from science, religion, arts, and business, gathered in N.Y. around the 10th anniversary of 9-11 to reflect on a new way forward, by sharing their wisdom through traditional stories both sacred and secular, and scientific discovery, developing a shared narrative to help reweave the fabric of our society.
